babymoon at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort

During my first two pregnancies, I don’t ever remember hearing the term “Babymoon”.  For those of you that don’t know what it is, a Babymoon is a kid-free trip taken while you are pregnant.  You know…to relax before all hell breaks lose!  Luckily, I heard about the gloriousness of the Babymoon in time to take one during this pregnancy.  Chase and I decided that we didn’t want to go away for too long, spend too much money (newborns aren’t cheap), or be too far from home (I am considered to have high risk pregnancies).  Living in Los Angeles, we decided that the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort was the perfect place.  We were right!  It’s only about 2 hours from home, reasonably priced, and gorgeous.  The staff at this place is AMAZING!  Each and every person we interacted with was incredible.

See, I told it was gorgeous!  This was the view from our room.

Here I am on our way to dinner.  I brought a really great dress and heels to wear this night but literally couldn’t get myself to put it on.  I just wanted to be comfy…so I went with this black and white outfit and I don’t regret it!

Rockwood Grill was my favorite dinner.  The food was delicious, our server was amazing, and these Michilada Mocktails hit the spot.  Did I mention that Chase has decided not to drink for the remainder of my pregnancy?  I’m not sure that I would do the same for him but, it’s a sweet gesture.  Mocktails for everyone!!

Check out this desert!  These little jars are filled with 4 different types of YUM!  My favorite were the two on the left.  Some kind of tiramisu and chocolate cake.  The peach colored one tasted like Hawaiian baby food…but in a good way.  The last one, with the flower on top, was lemon something.  It was super lemony and creamy.

The next morning we were on to the spa where we were greeted by the lovely Dawn and Dawn.  Yes…2 Dawns!  We spent the second day…and I mean the ENTIRE day at the spa.  We had this private spa suite which I cannot recommend enough.  Don’t worry, they do have a coed relaxation area at the spa if you don’t get a suite.  The suite has it’s own jacuzzi tub, amazing full body spray shower, seating area with indoor/outdoor fire place, outdoor pool and lounging area, etc.  It was so relaxing!  We had lunch in the suite along with the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries (I ate 4 of the 6…oops).  We were also popping bottles…of Martinelli’s Apple Cider!

The prenatal massage was wonderful.  They have that pillow that allows you to lay face down which is heaven for a stomach sleeper like myself.

Also at Rockwood Grill during breakfast….A JUICE BAR!  Hooray!!!  We enjoyed fresh juice every morning!

Here is the early morning view as we walked to breakfast.  Check out the snowcapped mountains!  There is a free gondola ride that you can take in this lake.  It was too cold for me, but next time I will definitely do it!

All in all I would call this Babymoon a complete success!  We left feeling refreshed and very connected.  If you have kids, you know that time spent with your spouse alone and uninterrupted is not often.  Being able to focus on each other for these few days felt like a year’s worth of quality time!  We know that life is about to get that much more crazy and we are now prepared for the beauty of it.

Check out JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort for yourself next time you need a getaway.  If you are planning on bringing your children, there is a ton for them to do as well, including mini golf!
